Rota is a small summer town situated towards the Southwest coast in Spain. This beautiful town lies just across the Cadiz bay. With a rich history that dates back to Phoenician times, the town is a perfect holiday destination. Rota is halfway between Portuguese border and Gibraltar. In case you are from a Schengen country you do not require a visa to travel to Rota. One thing that you must keep in mind is that, Rota like other Spanish destination is not a cheap one. Even if you have planned a budget for Rota travel and you are saving up at lot of places, then also you will require an average of $50 to spend each day.
Rota is filled with innumerable lodging options. You can choose from deluxe hotels resorts and villas to camping sites and apartments. Make sure that you book your accommodation in advance, especially if you are visiting between June to August.
Even though the town is a summer paradise with golden beaches and other sunny spots, it is important that you get a good sunscreen when you come here. The best beaches of Rota are Punta Candor, Costilla and Rompidillo.
Rota has a lot to see and experience beyond the shore. Castillo de Luna is a 13th century building that attracts a lot of visitors. Similarly Iglesia de la O and fortress walls that surrounds the entire city should also be checked out. Do savor a hearty Spanish meal from one of the Rota’s restaurants and bars. Do taste a glass of tintilla, which is the local wine in Rota.
Reaching Rota is not very tough. The airport Jerez de la Frontera is just 15 mile away. The airport is home to international as well as domestic flights. You may also use train service if you are travelling from somewhere within the country.
